Leadership Study
Study and application in progressI study leadership to understand how clear direction, consistent action, and thoughtful judgment can shape useful work. My starting point is my own conduct and the systems I build.
Current reading: The 8th Habit
Stephen R. Covey’s The 8th Habit explores finding one’s voice and helping others develop theirs. I am considering how talents, genuine needs, purpose, and conscience can inform my developing work as a business consultant.
These notes describe my interpretation and planned application of the reading.
Leadership and Management
I practice leadership by defining the purpose and direction of my work. I practice management by organizing the resources and processes needed to carry it out. Through each project, I am learning to connect the two.
Leadership asks: What should I accomplish, and why does it matter?
Management asks: How will I accomplish it, and what resources do I need?
In the recordkeeping project, leadership defines the intended result: accessible records, understandable finances, and a clear next action. Management turns that intention into folders, registers, work sessions, and reviews.
As a sole proprietor, I take on both responsibilities. I review the direction as well as the process.
From an idea to practice
- Vision: Define the intended result and explain why it matters.
- Discipline: Follow a manageable process and return to it consistently.
- Passion: Notice which problems and activities sustain my interest.
- Conscience: Protect private information and describe progress honestly.
A simple study record
- Idea: What did I understand?
- Action: How will I apply it?
- Observation: What happened, and what would I change?
I can explain an idea in my own words, test it in a small task, and record what I notice. Observations should follow the work rather than assume an improvement.
First planned application
Idea: Clear direction should guide the process.
Action: Apply a defined filing structure to one small batch of papers in the recordkeeping project.
Observation: Pending. Record whether each document has a clear destination and how easily it can be found afterward.
Continuing development
Growth takes practice and reflection. I will review what works, adjust what does not, and develop my judgment through experience.
Warrior Scholar: discipline in application
I connect leadership study with my own preparation, daily routines, and project reviews. The readiness project documents standards, resource care, and accountability through practical tracking tools.

A proposed SQ scorecard connects time-sensitive prayer, remembrance, cleanliness, intentions, Qur’an study, and Arabic learning. The design documents practice and reflection without assigning a score to faith or sincerity.

A systems lab and personal IQ scorecard connect deliberate study, self-awareness, learning through teaching, and practical application. The record documents understanding and learning methods rather than a standardized IQ.
